It’s been a while since my last post. There’s been a big change in my life: in June, I relocated from Japan to Finland. Living in Europe has been a goal of mine since childhood, and I’m happy to say it finally happened.
Why Europe? There are two main reasons.
1. Career
As a platform engineer, I closely follow Kubernetes and the CNCF ecosystem. KubeCon Europe takes place every year, and there are many local meetups as well. OSS maintainer meetings are also usually scheduled at times that work for both Europe and the US. Being here makes it much easier to stay up to date with the community.
I also recently moved from a service team to the platform team at work. I want to bring my experience from the service side, along with my Kubernetes knowledge, to help the platform team.
2. Family and life
I love traveling, and Europe has so many great places to explore. I’m also looking forward to learning about different cultures and languages. And I’m also a big sauna fan, so Finland is the perfect place for me. We even have a sauna at home!
I believe these experiences will make life richer for both me and my family.
So far, I’m still adjusting to the new role and life in Finland, but I’m enjoying the process.
Getting back to my own eBPF project may take some time, but I’m aiming to restart it before the end of the year.
